Intro

I am a user of MRTG and RRDtool for a long time. I also contributed some code to RRDtool and provided some manual pages. Last but not least I have spent and still spend quite some time on the mailing lists. I am also an RRDtool programmer in the sense that I write scripts for others. Like many people I'm hesitant to call myself an expert but I truly believe it is safe for me to do so in the RRDtool case.

I try to share my knowledge. I do this in my own way, not only telling how stuff works but also why. If you don't like that style then please do read the manual pages, not the tutorials.

The information is made available to you free of charge. However, if you choose to make a donation I am most grateful and will consider it to be an encouragement to spend more time on RRDtool programming and documenting.

Feedback, emails and consultancy

If you need to reach me you can do so by email. I do however ask you to respect some simple rules:

• If you want to hire me as a consultant, please specify this clearly in your email and provide some details.
• If you are looking for free information, and if you cannot find it in the tutorials I already wrote, write to the mailing list, not to me personally.
• If you want to provide feedback on any of the tutorials I wrote, do so clearly. Don't assume I understand what you mean. Provide details such as which document, where you found it, provide some context, that kind of stuff. Imagine receiving:

  "Hi,
  
   There is a spelling error in your document on line 12.
  
   Bye,
   xyz"

  That really helps... not
• Don't mix different topics in one email.
• For all you spammers and phishers out there:
  I do not need blue pills, drinks, toys or any other kind of that stuff you want to sell to me. Don't bother. If I want to buy it, I know where to find it.
• If you want to move your thirty million dollar or equivalent out of Nigeria, Sweden, Florida or any other country, deposit it into my bank account. Don't bother writing me an email.
